Hurricane Katrina / Rita Relief Follow up
Project Goal:
To provide practical assistance to Families in crisis due to hurricanes Katrina and Rita, within lower Louisiana.
Obstacles
- Devastation of homes, cars, businesses and other personal property.
- Basic needs still not met in some areas.
- Inadequate ancillary health care provisions.
- Lack of income from hurricane related job loss or underemployment.
- More displaced families than there are agencies and funding.
Provision
Through networking and our resources, we were able to provide :
- Cars and insurance for families and individuals Car Give Away Event for Christmas
Additionally, Teams Together, Inc was able to provide another vehicle for a family. February Car Give Away
- Beltone provided a new hearing aid to an elderly woman.
- SEECA provided toddler with eye glasses.
- Basic Needs delivered to several areas: Water, Food, School Uniforms, Winter Coats, etc.
- Family needs of Job Resources, Counseling, Family Assistance, and Financial Assistance
- Acquired warehousing facility for other agencies and contributors
As part of the Terrebonne Parish Rebuild Project, Teams Together assisted local agencies with grant writing, grant proposals and grant budgets.
Teams Together staff also provided local needs assessment to government and philanthropic agencies.
“One-Stop Shop ” funded
W e completed work with officials and scouting buildings to house the first “One-Stop Shop” to service Terrebonne Parish. We are pleased that funding went to local agencies to provide this service for their community.
Projects for disaster relief were made possible by private and corporate donations. We want to thank all of those who contributed for there generosity.
