Teams Together has been involved in disaster relief for years including Katrina/Rita hurricanes that hit the Gulf Coast of the USA, and other world-wide relief efforts.

Teams Together has been helping Haiti since 2004 by partnering with boaters taking food for orphanages. We are now financing teams that serve every 4 months for 2 weeks. The teams will provide medical attention, clean beds, and basic needs for the children as well as training locals working in orphanages and helping them rebuild a school.

DISASTER RELIEF PROGRAM History:

Presently, we are researching inventions of new power sources through our Alternative Energy Project that will assist our Disaster Relief Project efforts. During our evaluation of this project, we saw a pattern of gaps among disaster relief agencies that we are addressing within ourselves, and lack of energy is something that needs immediate resolution: you cannot depend on a truck or semi to deliver any goods, services, power, tents or food.

Relief coordination is what we addressed during our efforts during Katrina/Rita. We wrote and submitted a plan that was funded, adopted by locals and still running today that directs donations to one location. The locals, who know everyone and the needs in their community, work this facility for better distribution of goods. The program that we developed provided local new jobs and caused them to work together with their community in mind and not focus on the tragedy of the storm in their own lives.

Teams Together actively fill in the gaps and network with other agencies for needs to be met. We work together to empower people to overcome obstacles that threaten their well-being. We give hands-on approach and set a model that can be carried on at the local level.

Every year we see disaster happening in historical proportions. As we are all aware, financial assistance is needed for the grass root non-profits to assist where the larger non-profits fall short. We are able to create positive change in an impossible situation. These on-the-ground efforts make the largest impact in communities, to free up the larger agencies to serve the broader needs.
